Fiji’s best surf breaks

Located just off the coast of Viti Levu, Namotu Island Resort is one of the most southern islands in the Mamanuca Island Group. Namotu gets surf year around.

The Fiji Islands enjoys a tropical climate, with average temperatures in the winter months of about 84 ‘ F or 29’C and in the summer months of about 88’F or 31’C.

When is the best time to surf in Fiji?

We get asked all the time “when is the best time of year to visit?” It’s a hard one to answer as they’re all good times.
If you want a taste of 20ft Cloudbreak, it’s best to travel during May-September. That period can also be windy, although it tends to be Trade Wind from the SE so that’s no drama for Cloudy and Namotu Lefts.

Contrary to popular opinion, outside this window, the waves don’t just turn off. You’ll still find solid swells and even the occasional 20ft+ day, but more commonly there’s smaller waves and glassier days. Of course during December – March there’s an increased chance of tropical storms and northerly wind.
