Kitesurfing Fiji: The Best Spots And Time Of Year To Kite Surf

Technically, you can kite surf anywhere in Fiji as there's plenty of water and consistent onshore winds. For most people, that means visiting the beach. But some beach locations are much better than others when it comes to kiting.

To that end, kite surfing in Fiji offers one of the most exhilarating experiences you can have on the water. The region's warm sun, robust winds and gorgeous waves are sure to rival any kiting experience you've enjoyed in the past.

To help you plan your next vacation, we'll cover the top places to kitesurf in Fiji as well as the best times of the year to visit.

Top Kite Surfing Spots In Fiji

One of the best places to kite in Fiji is Namotu Island. It offers world-class waves right off the shore, as well as an array of exciting flat water riding.

Other popular kite surfing spots include Vanua Levu, Nananu-i-Ra and Suva. You'll find strong waves and consistent trade winds – both are great options – during the right time of the day and certain times of the year.

Best Time Of The Year To Kitesurf In Fiji

The weather in Fiji remains relatively constant throughout the year. Note that the wettest months are January through March. The region starts to dry in April, and continues to do so through September.

Don't be discouraged by the rain. The ocean remains warm (between 26° and 30°C) and calm during the wet months. You don't have to be concerned about getting cold while kite surfing.

Having said that, the best time of year to visit Fiji is between July and September. The water is warm, the air is relatively dry and the sun is out for most of the day. Keep in mind, those features make July through September the most popular time of year to visit. To avoid the crowds, consider visiting between April and early June.

On Planning Your Kitesurfing Fiji Vacation

Once you've chosen a destination and time of year to visit, all that's left is to book your accommodations. All Fiji resorts are different. Each of them offers a unique set of advantages and downsides.

The Namotu Island Resort has earned a reputation for placing its guests close to the water and providing them with attentive service. Whether you intend to surf, fish, snorkel or kitesurf, you'll find that doing it on Namotu is an unforgettable experience. Plan your visit by reserving your villa or beach bure today.
